Pedestrian Hit at Ponce & Highland This Morning
Decatur Metro | November 15, 2010The AJC is reporting that a pedestrian was hit by a car around 6:45a at the intersection of Ponce de Leon Ave and North Highland in Atlanta this morning and has been taken to Grady in “stable condition”.
One would assume that this nasty weather had something to do with it.
Drive/walk carefully out there folks. It ain’t purdy.
I would bet a McRib sandwich (what exactyly is the attraction there?) that this was a car making a right turn from N. Highland onto Ponce, westbound. I think a combination of poor sight lines and typical Atlanta disregard for pedestrians makes this an especially hazardous crossing.
Just a reminder ….During this time of year visibility is awful in the morning as you turn west onto Ponce de Leon from Ponce de Leon Place. The low morning sun angles create a treacherous glare.
I’ve seen so many close calls at this intersection. There’s a housing development nearby with many blind residents.
