I have to say the hundreds of comments on the original post depressed me a little. But seeing this church step up to tackle this issue head on, with an invitation to have all voices represented, is reallly commendable…and necessary. It says a lot about Oakhurst and the possibility of revitalization that works for all residents, old and new. But I suppose the participation, discussion, and outcome of the meeting will be the real test.
I have not been following the Dollar General discussion lately. Anything new, or are we still poking at phantoms?
Id love video of this when it happens
Why not just attend, and see and hear for yourself?
I’d love to! but i’ll be on my honeymoon!
Congrats and enjoy!!
Dude, postpone. Certainly the Mrs. will understand.
I’m thinking she wouldn’t be 100% on this lol
Oakhurst Presbyterian has long been known for tackling the challenges of community evolution head-on. Regardless of whether or not Dollar General ever locates in Oakhurst (or was ever going to, in the first place), this is a golden opportunity for some face-to-face discussion about larger issues confronting this neighborhood and this city.
Good idea – wish I was around to participate, would love to hear the highlights.
From the Church who spent an entire sermon comparing the Inauguration of Barack Obama to the baptism of Jesus Christ in the Jordan River.
I think not.
do what??
How do you know that? I don’t believe that Oakhurst Pres is one of those churches that televises its services.
What’s this Dollar General thing about?
I think they’re talking about the guy who dresses up as a Civil War general and gives out dollar bills on East Lake Drive. He’s become a real nuisance. The kids seek him out for money and go buy candy with it.
is he related to Colonel Angus from Saturday Night Live?
Oh dear. Let’s hope not
