“Decatur to Unveil Marble Shaft…”? Uh, nevermind.
My thoughts exactly.
LOL! Thank heaven I’m not the only one!
Do we know the year of this clipping?
Sorry, posted it in a bit of a hurry.
Date is March 10, 1908. Paper is The Atlanta Georgian.
We should still be honoring the brave souls that tried to defend the great–though short-lived– CSA from the tyranny of the Yankees (or Phillies, Padres, Giants).
I agree with Gibbets, we need to honor them more than ever because what they fought for in our 2nd War of Independence. I am anti-colonization as were the founders from the Southern States. The Confederate States of America after the take-over became the colony of the North E new government. All the roads to empire lead back to 1861.
Yeah, but if the CSA had broken off, it would now be a third world country and many of its citizens would be sneaking across the Mason Dixon line and becoming illegal immigrants in the U.S. Drug lords would be running this area and local mayors would go missing and show up stoned. All in all, I think Decatur ended up with more and better coffeeshops, beer, and schools the way things went.
Say what you will about the CSA, they do a great job of delivering organic fruits & veggies to the Oakhurst Garden every week.
If all roads lead to Rome, how does anyone ever leave?
