Rock Out with the Decatur Housing Authority
Decatur Metro | August 23, 2010When you think of the Decatur Housing Authority, do you think of Starship? Apparently you’re not the only one.
Also if you’re interested, the floor plans for the new “Phase 1″ buildings currently going up at Allen Wilson Terrace are now online.
epic.
Speechless.
Okay, that’s just not fair. I “borrowed” the Von Bondies “C’mon, C’mon” for a YouTube video and MCA found it, complained to YouTube and had them strip out my audio. Meanwhile, a song that really should be silenced gets a free pass. Where are Starship’s lawyers when we need ‘em?
If you can show proof that you purchased the song i.e Itunes then you can use it in your videos!
Actually, I wondered about the music as well. Purchasing the music via iTunes doesn’t get you the right to post to YouTube, even if you created the video. YouTube has a rights database which checks everything posted on YouTube against the database. Rights owners can tell YouTube in advance if they object to their content getting uploaded (music and video). See the TED Talk: How YouTube Thinks About Copyright at

Ouch; in my best William Shatner, “Can’t . . . listen . . . to another . . bar . . . of music.”
A Michael Scott joint…
This almost as good as the Dekalb Police Department’s old website background music. http://bit.ly/afW39H
I think they should have used NWA.
Or not done anything that stupefying stupid at all.
That should have been stupefyingly. Sorry typing while eating.
That is ridiculous. Awesome and ridiculous.
Oh, the earworm!
I can picture the editor and producer sitting in the editing suite…
Editor: Whoa, whoa, whoa; you want what song in the background?
Dang. Either this is a masterpiece of satire, or someone at the City actually likes this song. But I agree with JC– sublimely ridiculous!
Oh, good lord…now I’ve got an earworm. I’m gonna have to go scrub my brain with some Judas Priest.
That sucked so bad it’s awesome!
And who, pray tell, is the audience for this schlock?
Alert, alert, go back to edit mode, do not publish this nonsense! Dorky pop songs from the 80’s do not communicate sensitivity to low income housing residents and pride in our great little city…Decatur is no San Fran.
Maybe there was a sale at iTunes…
