Undeveloped Subdivision Goes to Seed
Decatur Metro | August 9, 2010UPDATE: jkga provides a link to the Midway Woods Garden’s website.
Decatur Metro’s undercover, urban gardener reporter sends in photographic evidence of an urban garden in an abandoned subdivision development just outside the Decatur city limits on Oldfield Road.
Another pic and a map of the garden’s location after the jump.
Here’s their website: http://www.midwaywoodsgarden.org/
Oh sweet. So not so “rogue” after all, huh? Still a good use of resources!
It’s not rogue and they have permission of the owner of the property to garden there. Get your facts straight.
I didn’t present it as a fact, did I? I said “seems to be…”
That said, I’m glad to edit the post to reflect this new piece of info.
Yea DM, get your jokes–er, facts straight.
You’re right on about its being a good use of resources– better an urban garden than an empty, weedy lot sitting there looking abandoned. On another note: Man! People are testy on this site today! WTD?
What the darn?
LOL! “What the dickens”– betraying my Southernness, I’m afraid…
Southern Cuba?
Maybe Midway folks aren’t quite as neighborly as Decaturites.
somebody’s got a case of the Mondays….
Midway folks (especially those that live on Oldfield) are super neighborly.
I have several good friends in Midway. I was just joshing. No offense to any Joshes out there.
I thought he meant “What’s the Deal”
It is a great idea. The neighborhood is being proactive with an eyesore. I hated it when they took down that old white house and razed all that land.
