Agnes Scott’s Princeton Review Rankings
Decatur Metro | August 5, 2010#10 in Quality of Life? Impressive!
From Agnes Scott’s Megan Terraso…
Agnes Scott College has been ranked one of The Best 373 Colleges for 2011 by The Princeton Review, publisher of college guidebooks and provider of other education services.
Agnes Scott’s other rankings included:
- No. 3 – Easiest Campus to Get Around (ASC’s second consecutive year in Top 10)
- No. 8 – Town Gown Relations Are Great (ASC’s third consecutive year in Top 10)
- No. 10 – Best Quality of Life
- No. 19 – Don’t Inhale
- No. 20 – Stone Cold Sober (ASC traditionally places Top 20 in this category)
I’m not sure how people generally feel about the Princeton Review guides, but back in the day, they became my go-to book to decide which campuses to tour and which to skip.
Don’t forget:
Alphabetical Order Ranking: #1 !!!!!!!!!!!

I took my visiting niece on college tours of both Agnes Scott and Emory. I realize that the tour isn’t the actual college experience, but Agnes Scott impressed us as an undergrad experience so much more than Emory. Its emphasis on a warm, nurturing, intellectual experience that emphasized the individual student came out in every conversation we had with students, faculty, or administration. Emory, by contrast, had a cold, sterile feel to it. Plus I’d had a misconception that AGC had girls’ finishing school feel to it, kind of like Bryn Mawr used to be decades ago. If AGC ever were that way, it feels completely different now with plenty of independent-minded women, many on financial aid and pleased with the scholarships and aid they are getting. My niece chose McAllister College in the end but I’ll be excited if my kids choose Agnes Scott. I wonder if there’s opportunities for more interaction between CSD courses/programs and AGC. The young women I met at AGC would be excellent role models for Decatur girls.
I know that the CSD students can enroll in Agnes Scott Classes if they want to get some college credit under their belts – if that counts as involvement but you are right there should probably be more interaction between the two groups (and I believe there have been some informal discussions about that very topic on campus recently).
The college does a lot for the school. Before we built the DHS auditorium, Renfroe used to use Presser Hall for all sorts of formal events. During construction of the Renfroe gym, ASC allowed parents to park at their parking garage to relieve on-street parking in the neighborhood. I know Renfroe students have done field trips to Agnes Scott to visit the observatory. And I know Agnes Scott students help coach and tutor students at DHS. I’m sure there’s more interaction. But Agnes Scott does quite a bit of community outreach.
karass, it’s ASC.Thought I’d correct you before someone mean did
I loved Agnes Scott. I am still involved, still close to professors and my best friends are still some of the people I met my very first day, week or month there. They made me graduate or I would have stayed.
Has pajamas to class always been standard dress code? Is that why quality of life scoring is so high?
I never went to class in pajamas, but often went something really short and fishnetty from the night before.
Only girls who actually spend the night on campus wore pajamas to class….
Fishnetty…hubba hubba.
Nelliebelle — I think you’re forgetting a few mornings. ASC is a great school, just wish it was a little more progressive!
I never went to class in my pajamas- but you did!
Man, the don’t inhale and stone cold sober rankings always give me a good laugh.
Can I enroll my daughter now, years ahead, before she gets her own ideas of where she wants to go? This sounds perfect. No males, no dope, no beer, no dorm costs, no car needed, no worries for Mom or Dad.
As long as you promise to let her come home for meals on weekends, when the Evans dining hall is not at its finest.
And the “no males, no dope, no beer” is only in play as much as the individual Scottie wants it to be. Remember, it’s a straight shot on MARTA to Georgia State!
When I was a mere child and completely underage, the window of my third floor Walters room served as a beer refrigerator. A friend and I had access to the student ID maker thing and we made loads of fake IDs. My boyfriend lived in my second floor Inman dorm room and we never got busted (this was before guys were allowed on campus…. don’t believe the paper
I’m so sure that was isolated behavior and would never happen again.
Uh, oh. Who would do that???
In other news, I think UGA won #1 party school…
