He (we called her a he since she is our alpha chicken) is a ISA brown; half rhode island red, half rhode island white. Fabulous layer and a beautiful bird; 6 large brown eggs per week. Hopefully Chuck (her name) won’t try and cross w. ponce, but you never know. Chuck and the other 3 girls like to hop the fence and free range. If you see them loose, please shoo them back in the yard!
Chickens in the mist
Free range!
Did it cross the street?
Did it cross the street? Have you see the way people drive on that street?
It’d be on a dinner plate if it tried.
A fine-looking bird! I hope it stayed out of the street.
Rhode Island red? I am rusty on my chicken identification…

Was at B+N to buy a book on keeping chickens and found out that Decatur is the backyard chicken capital!
Love it!
