Gary DeToma Sr. To Face Death Penalty
Decatur Metro | July 20, 2010From the AJC…
Gary DeToma, the Decatur man accused of suffocating one of his young sons and trying to kill the other, was indicted on murder charges Tuesday, and prosecutors said they will seek the death penalty.
…Police have offered no motive, but DeToma and his wife, Melanie, were going through a contentious divorce. His anger toward his wife possibly led to the domestic tragedy, Melanie DeToma’s lawyer told the AJC.
Appliance Repair Recommendation
Decatur Metro | July 20, 2010Chris writes in…
I am hoping that your site can recommend a small appliance repair person. I did not have time to post this on free for all Friday. Have you seen a recommendation before? The problem is leaking water from a no-frost frig/freezer. Thanks.
I haven’t come across a recent recommendation, so I’m opening it up to the mob. Go at it.
Taqueria del Sol Looks Beyond Georgia
Decatur Metro | July 20, 2010A press release went out about this a month or two back. Looks like the AJC finally found some time to do a little recon…
This year, Taqueria del Sol established a wholly-owned subsidiary to franchise the brand. The plan is to slowly and methodically expand outside Georgia, aiming for five new openings next year and 40 within the next five years.
…The plan is to start opening new restaurants next year in southeast and East Coast cities such as Knoxville, Philadelphia, and Birmingham, where Burnett says he has the most contacts. The parent company will retain the rights to Georgia in case Klank chooses to open new restaurants of his own.
At one point, I heard that Charleston would get the first TdS franchise, but perhaps things have changed since then.

Vote in Georgia Primaries Today
Decatur Metro | July 20, 2010As is the case in most primaries, turnout looked to be quite light at my precinct this morning.
But come on! The Georgia governor’s race is at stake!
If you haven’t done much investigation into what your ballot might look like, entering your address into the AJC’s Voting Guide will show you your choices on this year’s ballot and give the position of candidates in many of the contested races. (The software seems to be a bit better than in years past.)
To locate your voting precinct click over to the Georgia Secretary of State’s website.
