Prior to officially announcing Jonathan Franzen as the Decatur Book Festival’s 2010 keynote, Program Director Tom Bell read a brief excerpt from Franzen’s new novel “Freedom” at the festival’s launch event at Eddie’s Attic yesterday.

    I am very excited about hearing Jonathan Franzen speak. Heck, I’m excited simply to know that he has a new novel on its way. I loved The Corrections in 2001 and I still crack up every time I think about that guy with the salmon in his pants.
