Push Push Offers Two Theater and Film Camps This Summer
Decatur Metro | June 1, 2010 | 8:33 amFrom Push Push Theater’s Aimee McCoy…
As part of our award-winning SmallTall Youth Program, PushPush Theater will be holding two summer camps in June and July. This year, both camps will include a theater, film, and improv component, and will allow students to try their hand at work behind and in front of the lights. The process will be centered on a specific text and the story will unfold utilizing all three components. The camp will culminate in a professional public performance at noon on the final Friday of each camp. PushPush invites all youth 8-12 and teens 13 and up to participate in the camps, and encourages the community to attend their final performances.
With each of these programs, PushPush seeks to enhance participants’ imagination, communication, confidence, and thinking skills while sensitizing them to team work. Teens and youth will work separately but come together to create the final performance. PushPush’s camps are challenging and require focus, but they are also fun and tremendously rewarding. All camps are taught by leading professional artists in their related fields.
Camp One begins June 7 and runs Monday through friday from 10am-3pm with a final performance Friday, June 25 at noon. Camp Two begins July 5 with a final noon performance on July 23. The cost is $625 per three-week camp or $1100 for both camps. A limited number of need-based scholarships are available. Pre- and post- care may be provided and will be dependant on demand.
