Decatur To Host “Laxapalooza”
Decatur Metro | April 23, 2010Rachel sends in this announcement and call for support…
This year Decatur Active Living will be hosting Laxapalooza, a two day lacrosse tournament featuring 24 recreational boys and girls youth lacrosse teams from across metro Atlanta. Laxapalooza will take place on Saturday, May 8th, and Sunday, May 9th on playing fields across the City of Decatur. This event will bring hundreds of players and their families and friends into the City for two full days of fun and excitement.
In order to make this happen, we are seeking support from local businesses to offset the costs of hosting this event. We are asking our local businesses to sponsor in two ways: Premium sponsorships ($500), which includes a logo on the Laxapalooza t-shirt given to every participant (and sold to spectators), an opportunity to place a banner at a field during the tournament and an ad in the printed program, and Dining sponsors ($75), which allows local restaurants to be highlighted on the program map and dining list handed to every participan’s family. Individuals are also invited to become patrons of the tournament for $25, which includes placement in the program and the adoring love of your fellow fans.
Your support is greatly appreciated. Should you have any questions about the tournament or your sponsorship, or to get more involved, please contact Stacy Green (404-583-7724 or [email protected]).
Is one of their sponsors Milk of Magnesia…?
(I just couldn’t help myself…)
I knew that was coming.
Man. I was going to make a “eating too much cheese” comment.
Are there any upcoming events that will create an opportunity for a “that’s what she said”?
How did I miss the design competition for the Laxopalooza logo?
So many thoughts come forth in quick succession.
Yes, and all of which involve an ode to R. Crumb.
Hee-hee-hee! I’m so glad I’m not the only one who still has my third-grade sense of humor…
I almost posted the same thing! Lacrosse never even entered my mind…
I still think logo ideas should be submitted.

They really need to change that name.
It’s a little weird to see a city dept. so openly recruit paid sponsors. What happens if there aren’t enough sponsors? All of the other city festivals, events and concerts are done with the DBA, festival organization, etc. You don’t see the city pushing so blatantly hard for sponsorship dough. Usually, sponsors are recruited a few months out, not two weeks out. Which budget takes the hit if the sponsors aren’t found?
