Decatur Metro | September 3, 2009Eric wrote in asking about a traffic stop of a maroon Honda CR-V in front of Little Azio around 6p yesterday evening. He reported seeing three Decatur Police cruisers and a DeKalb sheriff car at the scene.
Deputy Chief Keith Lee gives us the details…
The officers had made a traffic stop in reference to a complaint of illegal drug activity. A DeKalb County PD K-9 unit was requested and responded. Drugs were found in the vehicle and two people were arrested without incident.
Just another day in the life of DPD. Keep it up officers!
Yeah ggod guys!
This is a perfect example of why traffic enforcement should be a law enforcement priority.

“What do Timothy McVeigh, Ted Bundy, David “Son of Sam” Berkowitz, and 9/11 ring-leader Mohammed Atta have in common? …they were all also brought to police attention by “routine” traffic violations.”

I got to witness this yesterday.
Are there any other details you’d like to report sunnyday?
Just a thought.
The perps should’ve been pulled over a little farther west thereby giving the fine folks in line at Taqueria Del Sol something do while standing in lne.
What’s a little different here is that they weren’t pulled over because of a moving violation, but because someone apparently saw them “using” and called the police. Usually, it’s a minor violation like having a tail light out that gets folks pulled over and then it escalates.
I was too quick on the draw (drawing conclusions, that is
Only three? Step it up Decatur Police (note sarcasm). Three “Decatur Police Cruisers” are par for the course when registration is one day past due or lights aren’t turned on at dusk. Given the circumstances of this stop I’m surprised the whole force wasn’t called out. In all seriousness I’m glad observant citizens notified authorities and it was handled appropriately.
