Agnes Scott's Movie Misstep
March 31, 2009 | 9:18 amLate last year, after many Agnes Scott students and alumni revolted to the filming of raunchy Road Trip 2: Beer Pong, the school created an advisory board to approve all projects.
The AJC’s Jamie Gumbrecht (aka jamieg on Twitter) writes up the college’s recent soul searching about the types and messages of movies filmed on the college’s pictorial campus.

As an alumna, I was appalled when we heard through the grapevine what had happened on campus. This article glosses over the repulsive things students were reporting. I hope Kiss is sincere in her promises and a little bit smarter in the future.
What were some of the “repulsive things” students reported?
A naked man was lashed to the porch at Rebekah, which is also a dorm, students were taunted by a production assistant for feminist POV and in general just a lot of rude, ignorant frat boy type crap.
“Frat boy crap”? Glad to see that the open minds at ASC (and their alums) are above stereotyping. Is that part of the feminist POV these days?
In all seriousness, I applaud the university for working to align the filming it allows on its beautiful campus with the values of the institution. While obviously you have to allow for some artistic freedom, to have production there that runs counter to the school’s values seems hypocritical at best.
I can’t imagine Dr. Kiss not being sincere in her promises. From a practical sense, it would be quite idiotic to make a commitment to listen to the recommendations of the group and then not do so. The students have plenty of access to the administration on campus, and they are not shy.
But beyond that, from everything I have observed about her work at ASC, she seems to operate with an huge amount of respect and pride for the school and the students. Beer Pong was a screw up–but it seems like carelessness (not vetting the movie properly more than anything.
