335 Tidbits

December 5, 2008 | 9:30 am

Carl sends in a couple updates about 335 building businesses.

The first deals with the new Eyeworks in the 335 building…

The owners are from Manhattan and opted to open this business in our City due to its urban feel.  They consider themselves very fashion conscious and carry a variety of stylish frames.  For those passing by with their four-legged friends, the Optometrist’s wife bakes dog biscuits and are happy to share them with anyone that stops in.  They are also giving away multi-purpose contact lens solution to new visitors.  Their website is http://www.eyeworksdecatur.com/\

AND I forgot to mention that Eyeworks is offering a Grand Opening special of 25% off complete pairs of glasses (frames + lenses)

The second talks about Tastings new hours and latest offerings…

Like many local businesses, Tastings has also realigned their schedule.  Hours are now Mon-Wed 4PM-10PM, Thurs-Sat. 11:30AM-12AM, and Sun, 4PM-10PM.  They continue to offer $8 lunch specials (includes a soda) on Thursdays and Fridays from 11:30 to 3.  They are offering trivia on Tuesdays at 8 PM with the opportunity to win a $50 gift card.  They continue to offer half-price draught beer and $5 martini specials all day Friday and half-price house wine on Monday. I love Tastings, but a trivia night doesn’t seem to fit their vibe.

Dem, thanks for loving Tastings! Surprisingly, our trivia gets quite a turnout. Our crowd is comprised of mostly mature folks who like trivia but don’t have to fuss with a young and roudy crowd that might be found at other games in town. Our game lasts an hour and a half (starts at 8PM and ends around 9:30PM) and our prizes consist of a $50, $30 and $20 Tastings card.

Thank you for the suggestion on Eyeworks. Lost my glasses about two months ago and have put off getting a new pair. When I saw the recommendation, I went ahead and thought I would check it out being so conveniently located. The team at eyeworks was professional, efficient and incredibly friendly. From the actual exam to the fun, “find your frames” session – really enjoyed the experience. Best part, they stayed late and actually helped me so I could take my glasses with me same day… If you are in the market for a quick eye exam or some new glasses, please stop by and check them out. They are excited to be here and are a fantastic addition to our business community.

Glad to hear it Laura! I’ve got a bunch of FSA money to burn through before the end of the year so I’m planning on heading over there too in the next couple weeks.

Don’t forget Decatur Eyecare in Oakhurst. They do a great job and have a fantastic collection of eyewear.

Decatur Eye wear is really top notch! Been going for years…love the personal touch and beautiful office, state of the art equipment…and Rene and Dr. Tom make it so you don’t want to leave…

Eyeworks of Decatur is a great asset to Decatur. They not only offer very knowledgable service but great frames too. Their doctor and staff is very helpful and experienced. I have tried many other places but will go back to Eyeworks next year too. The ambiance and selection is “Grade A”. I recommend this eye care specialist and store.

I agree with Vandy and Jim!! Decatur EyeCare is da bomb!! I had a cat claw me in the eye on a Sunday evening and Tom called me back within minutes of my call to their emergency line and then arranged to open the office to see me first thing the next morning! I’ll never go anywhere else!!

Eyeworks of Decatur is wonderful. I thought I had dust in my eye but turned out I had a toxic reaction from water in my eyes. The Doctor is very knowledgable. I would definately trust him with your eyes. They also have great glasses.

Bravo Dr. H and the entire staff at Eyeworks of Decatur.
