GDOT Finishes Ponce/Scott Cooridor a Month Early
Decatur Metro | November 6, 2008As many have already observed, the DOT really didn’t drag its feet when repaving the Ponce/Scott corridor over the past month or so.
The city’s website announces the project’s completion and thanks us for not complaining too much…
GDOT contractors have completed the resurfacing of a 5.7 mile corridor along Ponce de Leon Ave./Scott Blvd. a month earlier than scheduled. Decatur residents, thank you for your patience and cooperation!
I particularly like the new sidewalk installations at the Scott side-street intersections. Coventry especially! That corner was really dangerous for pedestrians before they hedged back those bushes and reinstalled and extended (?) the sidewalk.
I realize that the City merely passed on the GDOT release, but, as someone who drives that stretch several times a week, I can tell you that it has been finished for quite a while, so the news is old. I guess GDOT isn’t as good at getting out a press release as the contractor was at getting the job done.
As someone else that drives this strip quite frequently, I actually have to disagree with you on this one Steve.
The paving has been done for a while, but they just finished replacing the ends of the sidewalks.
I didn’t realize the sidewalks were part of their plan – I was mainly interested in the paving and traffic disruption, which was done long ago, and which was more visible to a driver.
Nice and smooth. . . .
… and the lanes are consistent. The eastbound lanes on Ponce used to be narrower than the westbound lanes, especially the curb lane.
Has anyone heard when or if they will repaint the cross walks on Scott?
