Lots Going On This Weekend
Decatur Metro | October 3, 2008 | 1:14 pmCrisp evenings call for lots of community events!
- Paula tells us that Greene’s Fine Foods is having its Grand Opening today, notated by balloons out front.
- Carl writes in that Worthmore is having an “America Celebrates Photography” opening reception tonight featuring Johnny Colt, the original bass player for The Black Crowes and the current bass player for Train.
- From a recent walkby – Sharian’s annual outdoor rug sale starts tomorrow and runs thru the 12th. Look for the nighttime security guard.
- Beacon Hill Studios is hosting an Open House fundraiser for DHS Arts program this Saturday from 4p-9p ($10 suggested donation) – courtesy of Carl
- Though this happened last week, “A” lets us know that Twist & Scoot’s new Decatur store is now open between Dancing Goat’s and Whit’s End.
Anything else?
Well, the DHS homecoming parade, which is in about an hour…
Pine Lake is hosting a fall arts festival – Lakefest – this weekend. Minutes from downtown Decatur! http://pinelakega.com/pinelakewp/category/pine-lake-lakefest/
Boogaloos is having an anniversary party (from Daily Candy):
What: They’re celebrating seven years with cocktails, food, and up to 30 percent off your entire purchase.
Why: Even wardrobes get the seven-year itch.
When: Fri., 6-11 p.m.
Where: 246 W. Ponce de Leon Ave., Decatur (404-373-3237).
The disaster drill! I really want to be a part of this thing.
I’ll be a victim at the disaster drill, Thomas – see you there !
Doh! I knew about Boogaloos from the Daily Candy email that my wife forwarded to me yesterday…but I totally blanked! Thanks megan!
Twist ‘n’ Scoot is open for retail sales but not yet for service.
Also, Rockit is having their Fabulous Friday Fall Party from 6 to 10.
Just came from checking out Greene’s. Although it doesn’t have all the crazy candy products of my youth, it definitely has a fun retro vibe. The staff was really friendly, and has a free hand with the free samples (which were yummy). We’ll definitely keep them in mind for our candy and nut needs. Lots of kid-friendly play space too. Oh yeah, they also have frozen yogurt.
eLife has a presentation on the Beacon Hill open house: http://www.elifemagazine.net/beaconhill.htm
Tried Greene’s yesterday. The maple pecan fudge is really great and they have all my favorite gummies for only $5 a pound. Not a bad price. Also agree with Paula, that the space is good and kid-friendly now.
Yes, when it comes to gummy anything I’m like 8 years-old.
